Location: Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park. Be transported by adrenaline-pumping rides, interactive shows and a wide variety of exciting attractions based on the blockbuster movies and television series you know and love so well.
Our founder, Gregory Arndt, was contracted by The Attraction Services Company to provide services for the attractions WaterWorld and Lights, Camera, Action.
WaterWorld
Looking to see how they create those incredible movie effects in your favourite Hollywood action movies? Here’s your chance in this sensational live water show. Based on the blockbuster film, Waterworld, this spectacular reveals a tidal wave of death-defying stunts, along with thrills and spills from real explosions of fire and water.
Gregory provided electrical design, installation management and programming of the Allen Bradley PLC system used to control the flame effects and some show action equipment within the WaterWorld live action stunt show. With 17 individual explosion/flame effects and water cannons, the system monitored the pressure, maintained pilot burners, open and closed valves to create the various effects in response to the show supervisor timing. Not only the effects, but it also maintained the Gas Supervisor Station and monitored for dangerous levels of escaped gas at the ground level.
Lights, Camera, Action
Wind, fire, explosions, rain, and massive destruction are all part of the movie magic as visitors experience a simulated Category 5 hurricane from inside a New York City waterfront boathouse. Gale-force winds sweep in from the sea causing destruction and fires, while sending a large cargo ship crashing through the boathouse wall!
Gregory provided programming of the Allen Bradley PLC sub-systems that controlled the majority of the show action equipment in the attraction. These included simulated rain, lights swinging, windows shattering, electrical sparks, signs falling and even a huge cargo ship bow crashing into the building and dropping anchor.
