Dubai Parks and Resorts is the Middle East’s largest integrated leisure and theme park destination located on Sheikh Zayed road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Spread over 25 million square feet, it features more than 100 rides and attractions, and consists of three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and Legoland Dubai, and one water park: Legoland Water Park. It also encompasses Riverland Dubai, a themed retail and dining destination, as well as the Polynesian-themed family resort, Lapita Hotel Dubai.
Our founder, Gregory Arndt, was contracted to perform vendor management and eventually programming for multiple systems within Motiongate and Bollywood. Originally contracted by Hill International as a ride manager, he was responsible for the vendor management of all Bollywood rides. Being a small park, Bollywood had seven rides including the Sholay interactive dark ride, the Ra-One flying theater, Don: The Chase, an immersive motion platform ride, and several small round rides. Realizing they had no controls engineers, he was transferred to Director, Control Systems and managed the vendor design, installation and programming of both ride and show controls systems within the park.
As Hill International was phased out of the construction management role, Gregory contracted directly with Dubai Parks and continued his role as Director, Control Systems. As issues arose with various vendors, he ended up taking over the programming of various systems, including the motion programming for over 100 animated figures and show action equipment in many of the attractions such as Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey, Dragon Gliders, Hotel Transylvania, Smurfs Studio Tours and Ghostbusters: Battle For New York to name a few.
